【Why the Dragon?】Drawing the Dragon’s Energy with Soul
Nature, mystery, protection, wealth, success—the dragon symbolizes it all.
I imbue my brush with its overwhelming power to create the one-of-a-kind “Ryujin Art.”
The sea, clouds, lightning…
Its form, born in resonance with nature, is also the very shape of Ryujin’s own soul.
When I ride the waves while surfing, I feel exactly as if I’m standing on the dragon’s back.
The life energy transmitted directly from the waves is the dragon itself.
The かすれ (blurred lines) etched in the calligraphy are traces of the dragon’s presence manifesting on the paper through the brush.
It is a trace of the soul connecting with grand nature.
【The Beginning of the Name “Ryujin”】
In 2012, I received the name “Ryujin” (龍人) from Mr. Masao Ishizaka, a renowned lyricist in the enka world and also the producer of Keiko Fuji (Hikaru Utada’s mother).
His real name was Ryuji.
Born in the Year of the Dragon in 1976, I felt the energy of “calligraphy with dragonかすれ” in the Year of the Dragon (2012), and he named me, saying, “It would be good for you to work under the name Ryujin from now on! My luck also changed after I received the name Masao Ishizaka.”
【Guided to the Town Where Dragons Live】
Ryujin lives in a town at the edge of Kamakura, about 2 kilometers from Enoshima.
In this area, there’s Katase-Enoshima Station, which resembles a Ryugu-jo (Dragon Palace) station building, and “Ryuko Myojin Shrine,” famous for its giant bronze statue of a five-headed dragon.
However, when I moved here, these weren’t yet present.
(Of course, I didn’t know about their construction plans either)
Later, they appeared, and as if guided by a dragon god, the theme of my creations naturally converged on dragons.

【Mysterious Experiences with Dragons】
Around 2010, “dragon-likeかすれ and undulations” began to appear in my calligraphy, and my activities as “Ryujin” started in 2012.
One late night (around 2015-2016), I awoke feeling a strong *ki* (energy) in my home in Akabane, where I lived at the time, and a golden hologram-like dragon floated before my eyes.
Naturally, I was surprised and turned my back. Since then, the dragon has not appeared again.
However, from that day on, dragons began to frequently appear in my works.
The reason why there are many golden dragon works recently is actually due to this experience.

Ryujin Art Gallery
Ryujin, born in the Year of the Dragon in 1976, has established a unique calligraphic style that allows him to freely use both hands, creating art that seems to manifest dragons.

Videos Capturing the Moment Dragons Appear
The *ki* (energy) residing at the tip of the brush is released, and the dragon appears—
I captured that moment where soulful concentration and physical movement perfectly align.
